Q. I’d like to buy the party pass for Saturday or Sunday but doesn’t seem to be possible to do it through website. Why?
A. The tickets will be available online from January 1 until January 27 2010 inclusive.

Q. It's going to be cold at the door in the queue! How fast is it going to be?
A. There’s a fast track for party pass collections and full pass holders. You won't need to queue that long if you get it online.

Q. I don’t have Paypal. Can I pay by an alternative means?
A. Yes you can. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and most debit and credit cards without signing up to Paypal. Once you are happy with your selection, simply click on the checkout button and you will be given the option to pay without signing up to Paypal.

Q. My bank doesn’t accept Paypal. Can I pay by an alternative means?

A.

What you need to do is make a bank transfer quoting the following details:Name of principal buyer (i.e. name as per Identification), Quantity of Passes (i.e. 2), What you are buying (Full Pass, Party Pass) and how much is the pass per person (£55, £30).

So it should look like this: Will Smith 2 full pass at £55 pp

You can make a bank transfer with the following info:

SOS STARS OF SALSA
BIC: ALEGB22
IBAN: GB88ALEI72000006588174

Q. How can this event be so cheap?
A. Although the artist line-up is of high quality, we have seriously looked at our budget and worked hard on keeping our cost-base low. The website, registration, transportation, cooking, serving at the bar, mc-ing and the organisation of the event in general is done by the same people that are going to be performing over the weekend, Leon Rose and Tamambo. Furthermore, special attention has gone on ensuring that we remain green throughout our promotional campaign. The power of the web alone has reached over 30,000 Salseros/as worldwide, as well as our usual advertising campaigns at congress screens and microphone mentions around the world.

Finally, we will be producing an e-Zine(electronic magazine) with information on the event, sponsors, as well as workshop schedules prior to the event.

Q. So why aren’t other promoters charging such low prices?
A. We will focus on keeping the lid on our budget. Please direct the question to them, we are sure they have a good reason...

Q. When and at what time do the workshops start?
A. Having learned from the first edition that Salseros/as like to turn up just before anything starts, the registration opens on Friday evening 29 2010 at 09:00 and will be open throughout the weekend.

Q. Is there going to be a pre-party on the Friday night?
A. Yes! We are currently working on the details of the pre-party. The deal is that all Full Pass and Party Pass holders will be able to get in for £6 only.

Q. Can you tell me more about the workshops?
A. For the workshops, it's one day (5 hours) and these are On1 and On2 LA/NY/London styles. We will have a Friday pre-party which runs separate from the pass but only costs a fraction of what others will pay if you have a full pass, Sunday pass or party pass (£6 instead of £10).

It's 2 nights of parties included in the pass, making this a real good bargain of an event and different to what people are used to doing. In terms of the levels, the classes will start at complete beginner level. Then we will have an Improver, Intermediate and Advanced level of course.

It's going to be unique for what it gives you in free time to visit London, dance Salsa, and not end up tired on Monday! :-)

Q. What is the capacity of the venue?
A. The capacity is rated at 1,200 people. However, SOS team is going to operate a maximum capacity policy of 750 (excluding performers and artists). The reason being that comfort needs to be at the heart of the event and therefore that extra bit of space will ensure dancing for everyone.

Q. What do you mean by “we have the bar and the drinks must finish”?
A. Well, it does not mean that it is free. What it does mean is that we have taken the risk of running the bar (cost-wise), because if we leave to someone else we will all get ripped off. Therefore you are not going to get the London-high prices. Those that know us will tell you that whenever we had the bar, the drinks always had the same low price throughout the years. Even at Salsa On Sundays, presently the prices have been negotiated in order for people to not cry when they get to the bar and have to pay up. The prices will be published prior to the event in the E-Mag.

Q. Why are you not doing a weekender?

A.

We don’t believe in the connotation of weekender, as we often associate this with being wasted on Monday, an information overdose during the workshops, and, THE PRICE. If you’re willing to pay more, we’ll call it whatever you want!

As promoters, we know that we must achieve scales of economy and reap higher profits by having workshops over two days. However, as seasoned instructors, we know that information overload kicks in after the third consecutive hour on the first day! Hence the reason we are only holding one day of workshops and are making the parties the highlight of the event. You’ll have a great time and remember most of what you learned on the day.

Q. What am I supposed to do on Saturday then?
A. We’d like you to chill on Saturday during the day. You can either join us during the day for brunch or go and tour the city on your own. You’ll have maps of the Tube and the city in general. Go to the E-Mag, we’ve compiled our favourite list of places you MUST see.

Q. If I become a Facebook fan, will you bombard me with emails?
A. Not all. Last year we sent a monthly update, increasing to weekly in January. Also, you will be alerted when the E-Mag becomes available in one of these updates.
